140 lessons · 7 months · about 1,200 words · TOPIK 1

Month 1 is free. All of it.

Twenty lessons take you from your first Hangul letter to reading any Korean word, applying real pronunciation rules, greeting people, introducing yourself, and counting in both number systems. No account needed for the first two lessons. Just start.

한국어 han · guk · eo "the Korean language." Three blocks, eight letters. You can read this by Lesson 4.

Why VIA works

Reading comes first. Hangul is the most learnable writing system on earth, and the course spends week one getting you to sound out real words instead of collecting app streaks. From there, every lesson opens by testing the one before it, and the weekly reviews score you honestly enough to sting a little.

The target is real Korean. Speech levels, etiquette, and culture are taught with the words that need them, and the whole seven-month path aims at one measurable finish line: TOPIK 1, with about 1,200 words in your pocket.

Practice on paper

Screens teach reading; paper teaches writing. The Hangul Workbook is a 40-page printable with tracing guides for every letter, your first words, and the core greetings. $5, print at home.

Who makes VIA

VIA is an independent project: one founder and a small production team, building one language done properly before starting the next. Every line of Korean on this site passes a native-accuracy review before it ships, and when we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
